I use Visio because

A) I already have it, and
B) I know how to use it

It can be used alright for 2D drafting, but it's not ideal. I thought about
switching to TurboCAD ($130 US).

I use Autocad. As far as I rember more people use the program here.
Dwg is the standard file 9nowadays). Also dxf are used quite often.
On the web both file formats are used because of the world wide use of
Autocad.
Greets,
Jaap
