I used Ø20 mm aluminium tube for drive shafts; the shafts for the sprockets 
in the drive line are Ø12 x 1 mm tube. Very rigid and light, compared to 
solid ones. Both the alu and steel tubes don't bend under quite heavy 
tensioning.
