I use NIMH batteries in my Railway models, have to change the batteries in
the TX about once a seaon I guess, but its not always transmitting in this
application either. Generall once the locomotive gets up to speed we just
turn the TC off til we need to make a correction.
I have a 4truck Shay locomotive that weighs about 12-15 pounds and has three
motors in it. 12 NiMH AAs will run it continuously for about 90 minutes,
which is about the same as I get for a NiCAd pack. I also use the NiMH in
cameras and other assorted stuff that eats batteries (like my pager!) The
only drawback I have found is that at least once a month ya gotta stick the
NiMH s that ain;t been used on the charger to top em off or they ain;t worth
a spit. Whereas a NiCad only loses about 10% of its charge every 30 days or
so.
New progress on the Great Sherman project, reworked the lower hull, and
added the bow over the weekend.
