I'm using the plywood because I need a very precise and consistent thickness
to fit the drive sprocket on my new sprocket driven TTS. Besides, using the
plywood is easer than ripping all that maple (though more expensive).

The 1/2" was a misprint. I'm using 1/4" thick aircraft plywood for the
track pieces. "All up" that will make a 1/2" thick track plus the thickness
of the treadmill belt.
