That should be fine, make sure to drill the hole bigger then the screw! I
drilled a 2 mm hole for a 3 mm screw. It was sufficient for attaching them
to the track, but a solid wood tooth with pre-drilled bigger hole will
certainly be better.

I used a machine screw (think that's what you call it) M6 and a nut M6
(metric thread, 6 mm). The hole in the plastic was drilled 7 mm and
countersunk on top of the tooth. The screw is placed with the slotted head
in the countersunk part of the tooth, with the nut inserted on the also
countersunk trackpad. This to enable changing the parts of the track when
the track pads (and thus the nut) have worn out. If you do it the other way
around the wear of the head of the screw would make it impossible to unscrew
the teeth. (see attached photo) I locked the nuts with Loctite.
