I think you are going the wrong way here ?
Shedding a track is generally lack of tension NOT too much clearance.
IF you are building a TTS track system then good clearances are
essential for it to function properly , think what happens if it as
tight as a ducks a**e and a twig or stone gets into it ?
Obviously the wheels need to be true and only have a little wobbly on
their axle but you need plenty of space between the teeth and wheels ,
the tank lays the track on the ground and then runs over it the track
does not actually move unless the wheels are all off the ground !
Paul [ just my 2 euros worth wait till the Yanks give their 2 cents
worth ! ]

Couple of quick questions to those who build thier own wheels and
tracks.
#1 (and the most pressing at the moment), how much lateral runout is an
acceptable amount? I'm having a heck of a time getting less than 1/16"
and
the worst one has 1/4" (scrap-land that one). How much is allowable
before
it become a problem with thrown track etc.
#2 What is an acceptable amount of play between the wheels and the
track-guides? Will 1/8th inch be too much clearance?
