Unless you have experience scratch building R/C vehicles I would HIGHLY
recommend not attempting a suspension for your first tank. It more than
doubles the complexity of the task.

Joe's controller has optional PWM outputs to run off-board SCR's
(electronic relays) to control motor speed.

The relays reverse voltage to the motors so you can go backwards.
