I am glad to announce my new
project: the 1:6 paintball StuG III, Ausf. F.
After having played with the
ideas of building an S-Tank or a Sherman I decided to give myself a break and
build a simple StuG.
The StuG is a low profile, easy
to operate (i.e. turretless) and effective vehicle that will scare the
opponents &*#!less...
The hull is made of 12 mm
plywood, the roadwheels were made using a router and are mounted on a welded
steel frame. No suspension; this is going to be a solid monster that can
handle the battle!!
Motors will be the EV's (indeed:
the last ones from the Robotmarketplace :-)), tracks: plastic conveyor chain
as used on several other tanks (except that these are blue, hence the camo
paint job will also be slightly off-standard), speedcontroller: Anvilus,
shafts: experimental aluminium tubes.
I chose the turretless StuG
mainly because I'm not too good with joysticks; since I was born far before
the Nintendo generation my eye-hand coordination with joysticks is quite bad
so one stick for driving and rotating the gun will be hard enough to
handle.
More pictures will follow; my own
website reached the 20 MB limit so no new chapter will be added for this tank
on short notice, perhaps later!
Tomorrow my other tank project
(T028) will be covered in an article in the leading Dutch newspaper 'De
Telegraaf'. I hope they'll mention my website; this could mean more people
getting enthousiastic about the paintball tank scene since I mentioned the
RCtankcombat-site in the links page. We could have a global paintball war in
no time!
