Gun camera videos from the Hetzer at the Bon
Voyage battle were taken through the driver's
slit. See http://www.rctankcombat.com/tanks/T010/39image.jpg
It is made from plexiglass and is not a true periscope.

I have an actual tank periscope prism (1x1x8 inches)
but I do not know how to make it small enough
for 1/6 scale vehicles.

The 9V battery on the Hetzer wireless camera worked for over
two hours. The camera broadcasts back to a receiving
station that provides NTSC video output to a monitor or
VCR so you could record up to 4 hours on a VHS cassette.
