Good question.  I've never had anything get stuck there but there was another issue. 
 When first built (as pictured on the site) the gap was very small.  When the tracks 
were tensioned the drive wheel would contact the rear road wheel.  Adjustments were 
made to the road wheel mount to move them forward a bit.

I don't recall exactly but I think we put in two layers of 6oz tape around the sides 
and the front curvy areas have several layers of 3oz cloth.  The whole assembly was 
quite flexible (especially in the flat areas) until I glued some 1/4" plywood backer 
pieces on.  There's no pics of this but maybe Chris (the new owner) can provide 
some.  The whole assembly was coated in Bondo to fill the weave and sanded smooth.
