The smooth-cast resins are very durable and if they are reinforced
properly with fiberglass/kevlar cloth/strands/pulp, they should be
plenty strong for our application. In fact, one of their resin mixtures
is specifically made for molding gears and other high-strength cogs.
But, as always in this hobby, real proof can only be found on the
battlefield. Build it and the battlefield will let you know if you got
it right ;-)
