Joe,
My T028 has variable speed as it uses a complete wheelchair drive system,
transferred to the tank. It contains a 'black box' with all sorts of
interesting prints, that I know absolutely nothing about.
At the joystick control panel there are two potentiometers, one for
sensitivity of the joystick and one for max. motor speed. I can control the
motor speed using the joystick. So, pushing the joystick halfway it does
half speed, fully engaging the joystock is full speed. Full speed in this
case would be about 6 km/h or just under 4 mph. Fast enough for a 100 kg
vehicle, controlled by a child.
If anyone knows his way around electronics and prints and stuff I would
suggest that one of these drive systems can be hooked to an R/C system. The
advantage would be that all allready components match.
Another thing about wheelchair drive systems is that the motors haven
solenoid brakes. So with the joystick in neutral position, or even the
electric system switched of, the brakes engage. You can tell by the photo on
my site showing the tank in a fix position up the ramps.
I will send you the rest of the tank data shortly.
Regards,
Marc
