We have (actually had as it's being remodeled) a long hallway at TACOM
filled with 100s of models of combat varients that never went into full
production. I'll guess 20 varients near production for every one actually
produced in quantity. Of those 20, three or so will go into low production
with 5-20 actually constructed of each. We pulled a couple out of mothballs
for the war in Iraq. Scrapping a combat program is nothing compared with
the local Detroit auto industry and what they scrap out. Funny - I have an
original pastel from the early 50's showing hover tanks with nuclear
explosions going off in the distance. Haven't seen any hover tanks produced
in volume, but there were some made.
