The EV availability issue falls into three categories:

1) Finding surplus "EV Warriors": the supply of surplus motors
originally produced for the EV Warrior bicycle are clearly decreasing
and it probably won't be long before it is depleted, given their
popularity with the robot guys.

2) Finding "EV Warrior" equivalents: apparently the EV Warrior was
either derived from or is the same as a Bosch motor sold as either the
blower fan or cooling fan for a Ford Bronco. So, in theory we should be
able to track down either the Ford part number itself or the replacement
part number and then locate a supplier for them. Anyone with expertise
in locating parts for trucks should be able to track it down
(unfortunately, I can't find an Internet resource that can answer that
question).

3) Replacement motors: there are an increasing number of strong motors
being sold for electric scooters (already mentioned by various people on
the mailing list). Many of these motors are more powerful than the EV
Warrior and some include gears as well. It remains for people to start
giving them a try (just like we did with Kiddie Car Motors, drill motors
and EV Warriors) so that we get some real-world data to go by. Steve's
recent information about power/weight ratios should help reduce the
number of tests needed, but we'll still need people to step up to the
plate and take a swing to see what happens. The increasing popularity
of electric scooters should keep the supplies high and prices
competitive for a long time to come.
