Mike,

Welcome to the list.  Concerning costs, I guesstimated my building costs a while back.  Here's the link,

Subject: new guy wondering about tank cost?

I was curious if anyone can give a rough estimate of how much money it takes to build a tank? I realize that alot of it is materials and time because you fabricate most everything. I beg of someone to outline the costs.
rolling chassis (steel&polycarbonate?)=$$?
axles=$$?
bearings=$$?
tracks=$$?
body materials (polycarbonate?)=$$?
misc. electronic controls (esc, rotation, etc...)=$$?
I am familiar with batteries, radios, motors, wiring, etc...and I know their costs. This is due to my experience with Big Gun Model Warship Combat. They are different animals... but some things carry over. 24v seems popular with you guys. I guess you need the extra rpms. Can a person build whatever tank or vehicle (new or old) they want as long as it is to scale (1/6 or at least 3ft)? Also these vehicles seem pretty heavy. 70 to 150 lbs right? Do you just drive them in and out of your vehicles? Is most of the weight batteries? I will save more questions for later.
