Is there anyone out there who is
still using cordless drill motors instead of changing to EV
Warriors?
If there are, I would like to
know:
- how they perform,
- if they use the max torque safety
system of the drill for when the tracks lock up,
- do they generate a lot of
heat.
Also, I noticed there are lots of
cheap cordless drills for sale that run on 14,4 V. These will probably also do
fine on 12 V, but does anyone have experience with this?
I am asking all this because I have
been thinking about my next project (the 1:6 paintball tank), there are some
funds left from the current project and I like to score as much as good
parts as I can untill I run out of money.
However, there is a slight chance
that the current project sucks up some more money as I will maybe need to modify
my track system. So far, the TTS has been succesfull at the testrun but is not
quite reliable because the track tension needs to be very high, otherwise the
drive wheels tend to slip.
I have now put through some
modifications (a different rubber liner on the drive wheels, a stronger
tensioning system and reinforced motorframe) and will hopefully be able to test
this during this weekend.
All comment is appreciated, the
best of luck to all you guys in the bad weather area, I hope you will all be
fine.
