I'm trying to get the drivetrain squared away on my T34. At first I'm gonna try to
crank out a T34 Prime Mover (thanks for legitimating my tank Steve).
Couple of questions regarding belts and chain:
What do you use to break chain. There seems to be a chain breaking tool - wtf?
Might I have any sucess with a hammer and nail?
I got sprockets that are for #35 roller chain - McMaster has a footnote that their
#35 roller chain is "rollerless roller chain" - again, wtf? and should I care?
Is there a difference between 4L and A section belts? McMaster doesn't seem to
think so - the twist lock they carry is for 1/2" belts: both 4L and A.
I've tried getting a belt from Pep Boys, Advance Auto Parts, etc. but everyone wants
a car model or an old belt to look at, they can't do anything with specs . . . I
guess I'll just overpay for twist lock from mcmaster.
Finally, how is everyone keeping shafts from travelling laterally? Is it not a
problem? Should I use a shaft collar that sits on the sides of a wall - would the
friction be a problem?
Thanks,
Amir
