Tyng Industries Inc. (TI) announces it's next R/C Tank Combat vehicle development
project. Code named "Green Lightning" in homage to the programs environmental
friendly and lofty performance goals. TI's next generation vehicle, like it's
ground breaking predecessor the "Dread T34", will set the bar well above the current
level in the R/C Tank Combat arena. Program objectives include:
Design
* Next generation Tyng Track System (TTS) with cog drive and replaceable guide
teeth
* Active "Christie" style suspension
* 24 volt operation
* Proportional speed control
* Fully independent turret subsystem
* Next generation turret rotate system
* Proprietary "Elastrometric" ammo magazine
* Full environmental protection to minimize paint and contaminant ingress
* 80 pound (36 kilogram) target weight
* Maximum use of cellulous fiber construction
* Minimal use of ozone depleting thermo plastics and energy intensive welding
and metal fabrication techniques
* Easy field maintenance and repair
* Low cost and ease of construction
Performance
* 10MPH+ (17KPH) top speed
* 3 second 360 degree turret traverse
* 4 rounds per second (FPS) fire rate
* 1 hour endurance on one battery pack
The new vehicle will be based upon the British Comet Mk1 cruiser tank which was
unarguably the best British tank of WW2 and which remained in service with various
army's into the 1970's. "The Comet had an almost perfect mix of firepower,
mobility, and protection that I think will translate into an excellent and
formidable R/C Combat vehicle" stated Steve Tyng, President and CEO of TI.
Concerning TI's decision to pursue a new vehicle Mr. Tyng continued, "TI can't rest
on its previous accomplishments, even as great as they are. We are committed to
keep pushing the technology and performance envelope of our vehicles and be THE
leader in the R/C Tank Combat hobby."
The first operational prototype is expected to be ready for field trials in the
second quarter of 2005.
