Hi all,
I'm shopping for some tank components, and I came across this little beauty
at surpluscenter.com
http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2004070809183292&item=5-1440&catname=electric
If hotmail butchers the link, it is Item# 5-1440. I was thinking it might be
good for a turret rotate mechanism.
I had a question though. This item will rotate at 4.5rpm, which means one
full turret rotation would be roughly 13 seconds. How does that compare to
the speeds of the battle tested tanks? Faster? Slower?
The prime drawback to it that I see is that there is no hole in the center
to run wires through, and it might be too tall for my hull. But at the price
they have it listed for, I'm going to buy one anyway. If nothing else, I can
pirate the mechanism (bearings!) itself and drive it with a chain and
sprocket.
