LOL :  ) hmmmm .. Tank or Support Vehicle  TankNTow  I was thinking along the power  servo gearbox  since Steve Gusikoski works his tank a little harder then most  I'm kinda the same way plus I tend to go the (extra mile )or two when building anything my wife thinks its funny you never just build anything she says thats probably why I'm taking so long lol I'm now in the process of machining my tank tracks and have a table full of parts I love it :  )

Robert,

I was thinking of that ServoCity gearbox when I first read your email.  Before you lay out the cash for it I'd recommend drawing or building your turret first to make sure it will fit.  If your marker is properly counter balanced I still think a 1/4 scale servo will be sufficient and it will save you some money compared to the gearbox.

If you go the gearbox route we could use your barrel as an engine hoist!  ;-)

Hey Steve  I think i have found the best of both words at (SERVO CITY) they have a servo gearbox there that is very strong with many different ratios to choose from plus arms I'm planning on going with one anyway mounting it on its side and like a old locomotive as the large gear rotates  it pulls up on the marker and in reverse rotation pushes down on the marker mounted in the turret at its centre of gravity by a couple of small pillow block bearings  what do you think?

Anyone with Ideas on gun elevation ??

I am torn between using a simple servo or building a more complex motorized control.

Is a servo to fast and jumpy?
