The up/down channel on the left stick controls the PWM speed control, 
and at the same time the up/down/left/right channels on the left stick 
control the directional relays.  With a micro-processor doing the 
control, it's simply a matter of programming based on the four inputs. 
Without a micro-processor, you operate a servo on the up/down channel in 
parallel with an ESC.  The ESC regulates the speed and the servo works 
in conjunction with the servo on the left/right channel to control the 
directional relays.
