Tanks must operate well in both forward or
reverse during paint ball battles. Consequently,
whether you use front wheel drive or rear wheel
drive does not matter. What does matter is to
balance the weight so that it is not nose heavy
or tail heavy.
Hetzer #T010 uses front wheel drive. The weight
of the motors and gun are forward, but they are
balanced by the weight of the batteries aft. Conversely
the dread T-34 #T005 has rear wheel drive with rear
motors and carries his battery forward.

no
Either build it out of wood, or build it out of plexiglass.
There is no reason to line the inside of a wooden tank
with plexiglass.
You could build it out of thin wood and then cover the
exterior with fiberglass.
Hetzer #T010 is built out of plexiglass with considerable
aluminum reinforcement. All of the other operational tanks
are either wood or aluminum.
