In this vein I went to the local Hobby Land and asked about Oil
Shocks, the same type I used on my old monster truck. The guy seemed a bit
shocked when I said I needed 18 of them and it turns out it was for a good
reason, the cheapest ones they had were around 15.00 each, ouch! Ultimately
my decision was to scavenge the 8 shocks from the aforementioned RC monster
truck and build the suspension with them in mind and buy a pair or two
whenever I can afford them. Until that time I'll put whatever springs I can
get that fit in the same spot. My only worry was that the shocks were
designed for 10lb RC cars and not 100+ lb Tanks. On the other hand they were
designed to be run 4 or 8 to a system and I am running significantly more. I
think if I use all 18 and the heaviest oil they sell everything should be
OK.
As a side note I am planning on rebuilding the monster truck as an
English Saladin Armoured Car.
