Sure.  The more paintballs flying, the better.

Unlimited.  Machine gun magazines aren't currently restricted by the 
rules.  Furthermore, it seems reasonable to me that a machine gun should 
be allowed to fire in fully automatic mode as well, in order to provide 
that wonderful machine gun effect that we all want to see.

Nope.  A machine gun can only be used to destroy infantry (e.g. Fred 
Simms), un-armored vehicles (e.g., Fred Simms' Quadricycle) and 
artillery.  In fact, the precedent for this was stated when Fred Simms 
appeared on the scene with his machine gun.  He's allowed to battle 
alongside tanks, but he can only destroy "soft" targets.

Although it's not specifically stated in the rules, you should probably 
be required to hit a soft target more than N times with a machine gun to 
destroy it. (Fred Simms himself may require 2N hits because he is in 
excellent physical shape :-)
