Dear Steve,

I sure hope that the weather is nice Saturday at the
Battle for Middle Maryland.

Now that Tri-Pact cannot hear through the Cone of Silence ...

We are pleased to report that the first field trial of the
Anvilus Projection Cloaking Device (PCD) was a
complete success.

Anvilus commandos infiltrated a recent Tri-Pact live
fire training exercise and used the PCD to superimpose
a ghostly image of a T-34 over Frank Pittelli's antiquated
Tiger #T001. (This was somewhat difficult because Tigers
are so ugly and T-34s are so cool.) Although we have not
yet been able to project color images, the white overlay
completely fooled John Pittelli's PzKw IV #T012 and Will
Montgomery's Panther #T017.

Dazed and confused by the sudden appearance of a
white T-34 cloaked image where the Tiger had been sitting,
the PzKw IV and Panther requested instructions from the
Tri-Pact BattleStar Management System. Anvilus
commandos intercepted the BattleStar reply, and
replaced it with orders to fire on the projected image.
In the words of Vern Dernberger, the destruction "was
accomplished in a matter of minutes". The commandos
were surprised that it took so long to destroy such an
antiquated Tiger, but the PzKw IV and Panther
had to reload at least three 40-shot magazines each
(240 shells) and clear several gun jams before they
were able to get 4 hits on the cloaked Tiger.

Following this debacle, secret Anvilus surveillance
cameras hidden within the Tri-Pact BattleStar, transmitted
the attached photo of Tri-Pact General Buck Turgidson
vainly trying to explain to Dr. Von Huppel why two Tri-Pact
main battle tanks (MBTs) destroyed their only other
operational MBT. The elusive Paul Pittelli, Director of the
Tri-Pact BattleStar Management System, was out to lunch
and is not shown in this photo.

I hope it does not rain.
