Hopefully all 8 axles will stay on the ground. I don't plan on launching it off anything at blurry fast speeds.
The 5/16" (7.9mm to you) axle should hold. Since they are bolts they can easily be replaced or upgraded form grade 5's to grade 8's or 12's if necessary.
It's like my Mountain Bike buddy says "I know something has gone seriously wrong if my wheels have left the ground"
I don't think anyone is going to put anything near the size of a car battery in one of these things (unless it's a battery out of one of those Minis you Brits are starting to ship over here). And isn't CO2 as light as air ;)
