Hello,
    I am not building a tank, but a couple of my fellow students bought some
good components you might be interested in hearing where we found them.

some 1 HP 12VDC motors. (The current draw on these guys is a little hefty
since they are only 12 VDC but these things have been used extensivley by
battlebots and there is a ton of info about em.
This guy is reliable we have purchased from him already.

We got a speed control capable of handling these puppies, at www.vantec.com
its a little price but will instantly connect to any stock RC radio.

Hope that helps. I have heard of other people using cordless drills you
might think about that. Since it would be on the inside you would never see
them.
